The Black Horse Tavern offers the community a unique dining experience. Nestled in the heart of Mendham, this historical site (and one of New Jersey’s oldest restaurants) offers you an enjoyable time, whether it’s your private event, an evening out with your family or a business dinner with your company. We will accommodate any event for you

40NORTH Restaurants is the full-service division of Villa Restaurant Group, a family owned, multi-brand restaurant company with nearly 350 locations in the United States and abroad.

40NORTH gets its name from the common geographical coordinates shared by Naples, Italy and Morristown, NJ, with both located at 40° North Latitude. VRG’s founder, Michele Scotto, was born and raised in Naples and as fate would have it, today he and his family call Morristown home.

40NORTH was established in 2006 with the opening of George & Martha’s American Grille. The group is now comprised of eight unique brands across eleven exciting locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Celebrating more than 270 years in business, The Black Horse Tavern is located in the heart of Mendham, N.J. Originally a stage coach house in the mid-1700s, today the Tavern embraces the traditions of fine dining with exceptional hospitality, a historic restaurant setting and a focus on modern American cuisine using local produce and products from purveyors throughout the tri-state area.
